Pastor Henrik Sonntag

Pastor Sonntag, 38, brings to St. Paul's lot's of energy and excitement, a love for trying new ideas in worship while staying true to our Lutheran Liturgy and traditions. HIs previous training to become a profesional musician on the clarinet, his playful nature, and his own passionate spirituality shine through each Sunday morning during his sermons, his children's messages, his singing of hymns and the liturgy, and in the overall tone of the worship service.

Pastor Sonntag celebrated his one year anniversary at St. Paul's on February 1st. This year has been a whirlwind of activity for him and the congregation. HIghlights have included last year's moving Wednesday evening prayer services, his Installation Service, the First Annual Oktoberfest to benefit Lutheran Disaster Relief, chapel services with the Nursery School students, Christmas Eve Family Service Children's Message which was a hit with young and old alike, and providing the Invocation at the Installation of the Abington Township Board of Commissioners.

As we are about to enter Pastor Sonntag's second Lenten season at St. Paul's, Pastor Sonntag is busy preparing a unique component to the Holy Week Worship Experience: The Living Last Supper. Thirteen men of St. Paul's will reenact Jesus' and the 12 Disciples last meal together on Holy Thursday. Pastor Sonntag brings this tradition with him from his previous congregations. Pastor Sonntag and the 13 men are engaged in an 8 week bible study during which they are learning in depth about the disciples and Jesus, as well as the final week of Jesus' life. He invites you to join us for all of the worship services at St. Paul's, but emphasizes the uniquely, powerful quality that Maundy Thursday's Living Last Supper will hold. (Maundy Thursday's Worship Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 1st.

As Pastor Sonntag and his wife, Jean, celebrate their son, Benjamin's, second birthday, they are also preparing for the arrival of their second child at the beginning of May. The Sonntag family keeps growing.
