St. Paul's welcomes Sister Jennie (Worman) Myers, who will undertake a two-year internship in preparation for her consecration as a Deaconess in the ELCA, Southern Ohio Synod. She will serve St. Paul's as Director of Youth and Family Ministry, working with the volunteers currently in place, and help us to develop a comprehensive plan for youth and family ministry.
Jennie studied Classical Humanities and Comparative Religion at Ohio State, receiving a BA, Magna Cum Laude, in 2006. She completed a MA in Children, Youth and Family Ministry at Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota, and completed her Clinical Pastoral Education requirement at Diakon Lutheran Social Ministries, which serves Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware. She did chaplaincy work at a retirement home community in Carlisle, PA, ministering to independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing patients.
She lives in Princeton, New Jersey with her husband Jon, who is a student at Princeton Theological Seminary.
St. Paul's Youth (SPYs)
St. Paul's Youth participate in the daily life of the church through worship, volunteer activities, and social events.
The group travelled to the 2006 San Antonio Gathering, which brought together more than 30,000 young people from across North America. The next Gathering takes place in New Orleans.
According to the ELCA, "This Gathering is about young people risking being a certain way in the world together. It is about following Jesus’ lead and crossing boundaries that keep us alienated from each other and from God. It is about our need for each other and for God. It is about the dynamic of faith which is life lived in the tension of God’s ways colliding with the ways of the world." Read more...
